Being and Seeing

When I was 18, moving from New Jersey to Arizona, the vast openness of the Southwest struck me deeply, planting the seed for my lifelong pursuit of photography. Armed with my parents’ camera and encouraged by my mother’s words—“You take nice pictures”—I began a journey that has grown into nearly four decades of creative exploration.

I call my approach Being and Seeing: Being means presence and openness; Seeing is the magic of transforming a fleeting moment into enduring expression. My fascination lies in the ever-changing qualities of light—its ability to shape landscapes with mystery, drama, and beauty. From my early darkroom days inspired by Ansel Adams to today’s digital refinement, this principle remains at the core of my work.

Travel and exploration continue to fuel my creativity, leading me to moments when subject, light, and presence align in a visceral “wow.” Over the years, I’ve exhibited in more than 200 juried shows, earned awards, and placed images in over 10,000 homes, offices, and galleries. Yet at the heart of it all remains a simple passion: capturing the beauty and emotion that light reveals in the world around us.
